-
What is the recommended power supply bypassing and decoupling method for these product series?
It is critical that the customer use a 0.01µF high frequency ceramic bypass capacitor

the ground pad. This connection should have a short signal path and the capacitor
should be placed within 1mm from the edge of the oscillator package.
[top of page]
-
What is the recommended impedance matching output termination method for these CMOS output logic product series?
Ecliptek recommends that the customer use the series termination method on the output
of the CMOS oscillator for proper impedance matching. The series termination should consist
of a resistor connected between the oscillator output (source) and the next component
(load). The resistor should be located within 1mm of the oscillator output pad (pad 3)
and have a value in the range of 10 ohms to 33 ohms. The exact value should be determined
by the customer based upon theoretical and empirical line impedance analysis.
[top of page]
-
What are the advantages of the series output termination method for these CMOS output logic product series?
The use of the series termination method on the output of the CMOS oscillator provides
slower rise times which results in smaller signal reflections and less radiated energy
(EMI). The termination also reduces ground bounce and signal overshoot resulting in
improved signal integrity.
